WOW!! That was some shot – taking off the head with a shotgun and not peppering the body with buckshot!

Well, that depends. Did she dry brine or wet brine? Slow-roasted or deep fried? Inquiring minds want to know.

When I was a kid, I went to Chinatown with my grandparents to a store where you could pick out the bird you wanted. In 20 minutes or so, we got the bird dressed and wrapped up in butcher paper. We did that for a couple of years!!

And it ran around how long with no head; reminds me of politicians; especially this year!

We once got a free-range organic turkey from friends who raised them. We picked it out while still alive, and then their kids killed & plucked it while we had coffee. After that year, they decided it was more work than they wanted to invest.

On that first Thanksgiving, if the Native Americans had given the Pilgrims a donkey instead of a turkey, these days we might be having a piece of a$$ for the holiday!

I heard someone quietly thank the animal for feeding his family before he ‘harvested’ it. Perspective.

My city bred daughter who now lives in North Idaho got her turkey hunting license and killed the turkey we are having for Thanksgiving this year. Don’t know how she killed it and don’t want to know. They roam in her backyard, so she didn’t have far to go. She sent me a picture ~ don’t know if I’m proud or a little uneasy.

Pretty good sized bird for wild! Usually you only get some breast & thighs worth keeping. We got just enough to make a pot pie with this fall’s bird.

Given the wide variety of contaminants in the environment I’m not sure about the organic part.

My dog eats wild turkey poop if she finds it before I see it. She is always on leash, never loose and no fence, but she is sneaky fast. I don’t have her nose; I have to see it. Also, she is a champion hunter, and I am not.

My kind of lady. Have to laugh at the queasy peoples comments above. Just how do you think those frozen turkeys got into that supermarket’s freezer?
