The dog’s name is Maurice

Kind of a long name if you have to call him.

AM radio and a winter driving trip from Baltimore to Kansas City ruined that song for me.

Some people have such ridiculous names for their pets. John Wayne and Dudley D0-Right had the principal down. John Wayne dog in Big Jake was……………..wait for it………………….wait for it…………………………Dog.

Dudley Do-Right’s horse was named horse.

Both make great trivia questions.

Awwww, who’s a good boy!

That is one reason why people like your dog more than you.

Switch to Paul Simon and just call him Al.

But he speaks with the pompatus of love.

Uh, as someone who is pop-culture challenged: WTF???

My older dog is named “The Ace Face”, a reference to a rock opera character rather than a song. It’s both his name and his title.

Whut?

Had a white english bulldog we named “Wish Cotton Was a Monkey” from the little rascals show. First visit to vet, had to tell him full name for file. His name was Cotton. He was not amused.

Now I’m going to have that song in my head all day! LOL

The Gangster of Love is Johnny Guitar Watson. He wrote and recorded it around 1960. It was a big R&B hit. Miller’s version is to Watson’s as Pat Boone’s version of “Tutti Frutti” is to Little Richard’s. To be fair, Miller knows a lot about blues and R&B.

My dog was a rabbit dog before I got her. Now she is Bunny the beagle. Not as original as the others mentioned.

Good opportunity for conversation starter, But he geeked it up. Now she thinks he’s just nuts.

Did you know that pompatus (as in “pompatus of love”) is just word Steve Miller made up? We need more of that.
