That’s not just a sniff…she loves him.

No, it could not

I guess she misses the doorman.

Old friends, old friends

Meet at the doorway like bookends

A newspaper blows down the street

Falls on the round toes

Of the high shoes of an friend

Old friends, winter companions, the door man

Lost in his overcoat, waiting for the sunset

The sounds of the city sifting through street

Settle like dust on the shoulders of the old friends

Can you imagine us years from today

Sharing a park bench quietly?

How terribly strange to be 70

Old friends, memory brushes the same years

Silently sharing the same fears

who owns who?

Is this supposed to be a wry joke?

That’s a pretty good dog ….

Dogs don’t forget their friends. Friends become pack, and then it’s forever. My dog will recognize patients in the hospital that are there again that we saw one time years ago. I am bad at facial recognition. If my dog wags her tail at a neighbor walking by, then I know that we have met. If it is a very gentle, slow wag, then it’s someone she wants to meet.
