A Straits, Hope and Charity Update:
by GoComicsUPDATE: THE SWEATSHIRT HAS BEEN AUCTIONED OFF
As some of you may have read in his previous blog post, Frazz creator Jef Mallett is swimming in Michigan's Straits of Mackinac to benefit Habitat for Humanity, and auctioning off some signed swag to his readers in exchange for their help with the cause! Now, an update from Jef:
How embarrassing, how wonderful: As I'm putting out a $5,000 update, we clear $6,000. You guys are that quick, that generous. I cannot thank you enough. But I'll sure keep trying, and I'll thank you today with a special bonus SOS offering.
The reason I know this is such an awesome (really, that's the right word) swim is because I've done it before. I was part of a group of 50 swimmers helping to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Mackinac Bridge. Back then, I wasn't such a good swimmer and, frankly, didn't even enjoy swimming that much. It was just how you got to the good part of the triathlon. But I knew an opportunity when I saw one, and by the second tower my whole approach toward swimming had changed. Even my life had changed a little. Okay, a lot.
So the Straits are pretty important to me, and obviously that swim was, too. So I'm ready to share that swim as well as my next Straits swim at the same time. I've defaced the official sweatshirt (size L) from that 2007 swim, and I'll share it with one of you guys as a way to say thanks to all of you guys.
First $75.01 donation under my name at the Habitat for Humanity donation website takes the shirt.
