Dick Tracy and Friends Take a Stand Against Bullying
by GoComics"Bullying is a part of life no one wishes to relive," says Mike Curtis, the writer behind GoComics' Dick Tracy, in a recent article, saying he and his partner, artist Joe Stanton, "have wanted to take a look at the subject for some time." With the help of Curtis' 11-year-old neighbor, Collin Engler, Curtis and Stanton have developed a new sequence for the strip, in which tough-guy Tracy takes a stand against bullying. Engler, who has organized an anti-bullying club at his school, says bullying is "real and it's happening every day in schools and other places."
The sequence centers on Tracy's tweenage daughter, Honeymoon, and features appearances from a cartoon Engler, as well as a few familiar faces from GoComics. [Little Orphan] Annie and The Cardinal superhero will be on the scene, ready to stand up for their friend, Honeymoon.
We are very proud of the work that Mike Curtis and Joe Stanton are doing in the important fight against bullying, and we're excited to host this upcoming sequence on GoComics! We encourage you to follow the new storyline here, once it begins on Sunday, June 21.
