It's been 17 years since Star Wars: The Phantom Menace defined what "Star Wars prequel" meant to generations of fans (...Jar Jar Binks...), but in a post Star Wars: The Force Awakens world, the latest "pre-Episode-IV" film is a... new hope.

Debuting today in theaters, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of Disney's standalone Star Wars movies, giving fans a look at just how the Rebels got a hold of the Death Star plans that allowed Luke Skywalker and co. to blow the thing up in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. By all accounts, it looks like it has all of the ingredients to be as well-received as last year's The Force Awakens. Of course, we're happy if there are cool droids and lasers, so your mileage may vary. At any rate, we can all count on losing an hour of productivity as we over caffeinated-ly talk over it in the office on Monday.
