Look Forward To These Comics On Backward Day
by Caleb GoellnerIf the recent Opposite Day had you out of sorts, this, the 3,000th annual Backward Day, might just crack your fragile psyche. If you've been reading comics long enough that you've wound up reading this blog post, however, chances are your fragile psyche cracked long ago. Let's just assume we're all in the same boat!
Unlike more specific holidays, Backward Day (also known as "Backwards Day" by the grammatically backward), is a lot to unpack. You can celebrate it literally OR metaphorically according to the word's dangerously deep definitions. You could be cool and, say, wear a hat backwards, for example. Or you could perform an action in the opposite direction, like running your daily 15K in reverse. History buffs might enjoy metaphorically "looking" backward with an eye toward the past. If you're an overachiever you can do all of these things while also abandoning civilization to embrace a retrogressive lifestyle spitting in the face of the profound biological and societal advancements that have improved the lives of millions. Don't bathe. Reject spoken and written language. Eat boogers. Overarching backward potential abounds!
Actually, don't do any of those things. Just read these Backward Day comics instead.
