Pencil In Some Time To Read These Comics On Eraser Day
by The GoComics TeamDid you know "rubber" is named after its ability to rub black pencil lead away from paper? It's true according to the internet, which is largely constructed by paper and pencil from what we understand.
In 1770 Joseph Priestley noticed that the gummy goodness imported from Brazil was really, really good at hiding his mistakes (*like when he wanted to call Oxygen "breather") and word spread like wildfire.
The name "rubber" stuck and now we use it to talk about tires and Jim Carey's face in the '90s. More importantly, though, cartoonists use rubber erasers to make comics and often incorporate their world-shaping powers into strips. Here are several of them for your Eraser Day reading pleasure.
