New Comic Alert: 'Two Party Opera' By Brian Carroll
by Caleb GoellnerThe United States of America's Democratic and Republican parties can't agree on much of anything in 2017, but it doesn't take reaching across the proverbial aisle to come to one key consensus: politics are more polarized than ever. The situation would be funny if it weren't so grim, but thanks to Brian Carroll's Two Party Opera, it's funny precisely because it's grim.
You see, there are innumerable parallels between America's past and present-day political scenarios. Nearly every day Washington D.C. fixtures work to manipulate public opinion as they enact policy changes and otherwise shape the fate of their sprawling constituency -- just like they have since 1776. The commonalities pointed out by Carroll are comedic, but you know what they say about comedy? That's right, it's simply tragedy plus time.
So spend some time with Two Party Opera, a comic where 45 presidents and a host of personified symbols and ideals compare notes on current events with a distinct tether to lessons learned and perilously unlearned. You'll be glad you did. After you finish building a space ship.

This is a great comic. It would be super-cool if each comic strip was tagged with the president’s name appearing in the strip. That way, we can easily read all the strips featuring a particular president.
