Feast Your Eyes On These Comics On Mr. Potato Head Day
by The GoComics TeamMr. Potato Head Day is a festive expression of crass consumerism balanced by toyetic charisma. As it should be.
Y'see, on April 30, 1952, Mr. Potato Head became not only the first toy advertised on TV, but the first commercial that ever targeted children directly. So, of course, the modular toy (the original had kids pop pointy body components into a plain ol' potato -- delicious!) sold more than a million units in its first year.
In the six and a half decades since, Mr. Potato Head and his family plus Picnic Pals, have probably sold enough plastic food to feed an army of, uh, things that can eat plastic. But one thing MPH never did was sell out. He's still all about the fans, maaan. At least that's what it seems like in the Toy Story movies...
Happy Mr. Potato Head Day!

I’m really going to miss the voice behind Mr. Potato Head in the Toy Story movie franchise. In fact, I grew up with him. Because if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be the posting comedian I am today! R.I.P. Don Rickles.
