10 Comics That Show You How To Get To Sesame Street (Day)
by The GoComics TeamChildren's programming -- educational or otherwise -- was changed forever when Sesame Street made its Public Broadcasting Service debut on November 10, 1969. One of the first kid shows to employ, like, actual research, Sesame Street subverted traditional commercial TV into Muppet-enriched edutainment for kids. Nearly 50 years later, Sesame Street Stars like Big Bird, Snuffy, Bert, Ernie, Grover, Rosita, Telly, Oscar, The Count, Cookie Monster, Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Julia, Rudy, and scores of other Muppets remain formative educators. So too do the show's human stars, resting comfortably in so many adults' memories akin to distant relatives.
So happy Sesame Street Day! Even though PBS is threatened, HBO has gotten involved and cut the show runtime by 50%, and so many stars have been laid off, the crushing realities of modern society can't take our collective childhoods away!
