New Comic Alert: 'Texts From Mittens'
by Stephen RothScientists believe we are less than a decade away from developing an artificial intelligence system that can tell us exactly what our pets are thinking.
In just a few years, we'll be able to buy a device--probably from Amazon or Google--that can translate complex animal thoughts such as, "I'm hungry," "I need to poop," or "You're sitting on my side of the couch again." For the first time in history, our favorite creatures will be able to get what they want without barking or mewing incessantly at 3 o'clock in the morning.
Until that wondrous age, we have Texts From Mittens, a charmingly inventive comic that consists of text messages between a housecat and his human "mom." Mittens is an adorable if somewhat needy "tuxie" who loves liver treats, indoor drinking fountains, watching Judge Judy and creating unnecessary drama. He texts his busy, single mom throughout the day with queries about mealtimes, the cleanliness of the litter box, and what's happening outside the window. Other characters, like a pet lab named Earl and kooky neighbor Drunk Patty, are also topics of conversation.
Texts From Mittens is the creation of writer Angie Bailey, and has been a GoComics feature since March 2018. To read all of Mittens' texts, click here.
