Garfield's 40th Birthday Book Has a Special Guest
by Stephen RothLin-Manuel Miranda has accomplished much in his young life, composing two Broadway hits in The Heights and Hamilton, winning a Pulitzer Prize, and even getting to perform carpool karaoke with James Corden.
That's all a nice little preamble to what drops on June 19, when the book, Age Happens: Garfield Hits the Big 4-0, hits the shelves with a foreword written by Miranda.
What does the creator and star of the decade's biggest Broadway musical have in common with Garfield? Well, he's been a huge fan since childhood, for one thing. In 2016, the composer posted on social media a framed sketch signed by Jim Davis with Garfield (dressed in Alexander Hamilton's coat) and a thought balloon that reads, "Lin-Manuel, you rock!"
"Don't know if I can even hang this," Miranda tweeted about the picture. "It's my Rosebud sled."
Here's betting that Miranda is not throwing away his shot at writing a wonderful tribute in Garfield's birthday book.
