Farewell to 'Jane's World' - for Now
by Stephen RothYou might have caught the news that Jane's World creator Paige Braddock has put a halt to the popular, groundbreaking comic - at least for the next few years. The final strip ran on October 19, and it was a memorable one - Jane Wyatt married her longtime companion, Dorothy, ending with the hopeful sentiment, "Here's to forever."
In an interview with The New York Times, Braddock commented that "when I started the comic, two women could not have been married; it would have been pure fiction. This shows how much has changed for the L.G.B.T. community in 20 years. It's sort of staggering."
Braddock told the Times she has not ruled out returning to the strip and its characters in the future. "Maybe five years from now, I'll jump back and see where they are," she said.
