It's an exclusive club that includes legends such as LeBron James, Lance Armstrong, Alex Rodriguez, and even NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. 

We're talking, of course, about Tank McNamara's not-so-coveted Sports Jerk of the Year award, an annual tradition since 1997 (seriously, what other club would claim Roger Goodell as a member?). 

The beautiful thing about Sports Jerk of the Year is that it's an opportunity for you, the fan, to sound off on who was the most repugnant, shameless scoundrel in the world of sports for an entire calendar year. Some years, the competition is fierce — 2014 presented a virtual all-star team of distasteful sports figures than included Goodell, Rodriguez, and abusive NFL running backs Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. Goodell walked away with the "honor" that year.

Last year, it was publicity hound and basketball helicopter parent Lavar Ball's turn to be America's Sports Jerk, an outcome that was a huge — YUGE! — disappointment to a certain commander-in-chief: 

As of Jan. 21, nominations for the 2018 edition of Sports Jerk of the Year Award are underway. Nominations are accepted only for individuals – not for a team, league, organization or corporation. Athletes who committed a crime that caused injury or even death during 2018 will not be considered for the award. Nominations are accepted via four methods through Saturday, Jan. 26:
