Randy Glasbergen was a pro. During his distinguished career, he'd wake up early in the morning and work until 5 or 6 p.m. on his big drawing board, often cranking out 10 or so cartoons a day for various publications, businesses, events, book covers, international newspapers, speaking engagements and more through his own business, Glasbergen Cartoon Service. In his "Meet Your Creator" post last June, he wrote: "First and foremost, I like working alone at home, barely dressed, with the music playing as loud as I please. No boss, no boring meetings, no corporate dress code, no rules to follow, no annoying coworkers." For anyone who harbors dreams of successful self-employment, this is a pretty inspiring statement. But for those of us stuck in an office every day, Glasbergen's observations on modern life and the workplace will elicit many a wry chuckle. They're simple, pithy and almost always hilarious - a perfect overlap of ridiculous and believable. Sadly, Randy passed away this past August at the age of 58, an absence that has been felt by many of his readers and fellow cartoonists. His good humor and sharp wit lives on his work, however, which you can read every day right here on GoComics.
