Oh Oliver, just two more seconds and you would have pulled off the cyber equivalent to the big bang. Who knows what you could have done then? You might have even ripped the cyber fabric of space-time. But you had to wake up. So now, of course, you’ll never know will you.
I guess that DarpaNET was the closest term Breathed had at the time and very few would have understood.
…and Dr. Toon, the Internet is technically in pretty good shape. A couple of things could have been designed a bit better: IP4 was a bit short-sighted and the proliferation of advertising…
If the Internet is a mess, it is more a function of the users than the system itself.

back in the 80’s when i found a terminal still logged on after hours i’d run a batch file that logged the user off but would leave something like the following on the screen for the next morning.

You really shouldn’t sleep with your glasses on, Oliver. Wire rims especially – it’s not good for them.

I like the internet. It constantly pisses off dictators and is almost impossible to control. Sort of like your favorite goofy uncle.

speaking as a “favorite goofy uncle” i’d like to say that being uncontrollable is part of our charm!

And if his dream came true what a much better world it would be too
