Shouldn’t this theme of the strip be officially retired. My mother always said you should not speak ill of the dead and Diana was a very good person. I think republishing this, even when it is supposed to be a joke, is in very poor taste. But then now days there seems to be very little respect of much of anything.
Binkley represents an entire generation who are far more familiar with the trivial daily vicissitudes of their favorite celebrities than with those of their own families and neighbors. In connecting with the world, we have largely disconnected with our immediate environs.
If only we had known what was really going on with Charles & Diana — I have nothing but sympathy for that poor girl (she was only 19 when she was sucked into the hellish existance her life became).

Diana also loved Wham, she said it on the Tonight Show. I have no idea why I remember that. She preferred George Michael…

Replace “Prince Charles and Diana” with “Will and Kate” and it should still work.

And Di’s campaign against antipersonnel land mines had such a big effect on our Good Ole ’Murrican industries.

What I remember most about the whole Charles & Diana craze are a few novelty songs, and some jokes about Chuck’s ears. That’s it.
