Actually, the original Pinto design was filled with advanced safety features, including a bladder gas tank and an air bag, but they started deleting that stuff because the car was too heavy and Detroit had learned the lesson that the public won’t pay for safety features.
WIthout Lee Iacocca, we wouldn’t have a Mustang. While he did get Congress to bail out Chrysler, the loan was paid back, in full, and way ahead of schedule – good for American taxpayers.
The Pinto was also going to have a key wind in the back, but Ford thought better about the whole “truth in advertising” angle…btw…the words Fox and news should never appear in the same sentence
I liked Mr. Iaccoca’s trademark phrase “Follow, Lead, Or get (T. F) Out of the Way” He is and has been a visionary like many others and not as arrogant as most of the many
