The more I read, the more I realize this was not that funny the first time. The fears of Reagan and conservatives are way overblown and Breathed was wrong.
Some friends of ours caught the oil company try to lay pipeline across the back of their property without telling them, real sneaky-like. Then they tried to claim that they already had permission. They had to call in a LOT of favors at city hall just to keep the pipeline out. Yes, it was completely illegal on the company’s part. No, they never got prosecuted outside of having to build elsewhere.
From Watt to Pruitt and Zinke, the baton has been passed, with vengeance. BTW, back in the 60’s a friends’ dads’ company was drilliing under our house, got about $300 a year in royalties from our mineral rights. The dad also had the refinery and service stations. His word to me, in the day of 23 cents a gallon gasoline: “An oil company is nothing but a licence to print money.” Much more profitable, and destructive, today.
Milo’s Meadow is finally catching up with the 20th century! I wonder how rich an abundance of fuel it will produce. Maybe it could finance a local rock band or two, and perhaps neurosurgery for a cat or two….

So is this the old Bloom County or the new one? Never mind, “the beat goes on.”

Why not? Found oil in Milo’s meadow! Everybody will be rich. Especially Exxon.

If that’s a rabbit hole, I do hope Mrs. Rabbit and the little ones aren’t trapped.
