According to the Urban Dicionary, “a super energetic individual ‘going off’ verbally or physically, consequently ‘bouncing around the room’ and off the walls like a ‘super ball’”
Do you remember where YOU were on 2/12/1987 when the band’s name was changed to “Billy and the Boingers”? It is a day that has the same impact as the day they got rid of “New Coke” and when “Saved by the Bell” premiered". Legendary days…like that.
Yeah, I don’t remember either. But what a great name!
Super balls… now there’s a memory. In the mid 60’s when super balls were introduced as toys (and they were amazing at the time) a 12-13 year old me found one and after playing with it for a while, my nascent impulse control slipped and I bounced it off the pavement and smacked it with a baseball bat. I don’t know if it burned out on reentry, stayed in orbit or exactly what happened to the thing, but it sure vanished.
This may be a reference to how the Rolling Stones got their name. Legend has it that Brian Jones just blurted it out when a promoter asked what the band was called.

“Boinging” sounds absolutely filthy to me.

Probably inspired by Billy Vera and the Beaters, a popular band at the time.

Any logical Deathtongue listener would know that a boinger is a unwholesome tougue played well. Good play Steve… everyone’s happy, right?

It was a difficult birth….
