Bob, you can put some other stuff in the brownie mix and it should give you a whole new outlook on life !
At least in brownies you can pick the nuts out if you don’t like them.
It’s not that nuts and brownies don’t mix; they just don’t do it homogeneously. Brownies should be nut free.

And because of a few nuts the Parthenon is now in ruins. Sound familiar folks?
Which is why I take my brownies without nuts.
