Sounds great. Last year my wanted to do the same and I didn’t want another dog. When she said there was an application to fill out, I said “Sure…Go Ahead!”. (I’d filled out forms before to adopt and the restrictions were so ridiculous I knew it wouldn’t go any further than filling out the application.) We were approved in twenty minutes….came to find out my wife’s cousin had been donating to this particular rescue shelter for years…..and my wife had used her as a reference. Oh Yes! The FIX WAS IN…..I didn’t even see it coming. Anyway, we have a huge and beautiful Aussie/Pyrenees mix. Just this last weekend she was showing me another dog from the same shelter……No No No No!!!!!

We tried that. Drove all the way to northern New Jersey and stayed overnight. PetSmart didn’t know they were having an adoption event. When the dogs got there, the “female puppy from Texas” turned out to be a male. We drove home puppyless. I can’t have a dog that pees on the walls.

Meanwhile, my husband forgot his vest in one of the dozen rest stops he frequented on the way up. His cell phone and keys were in the pocket. Amazingly, we stopped at the same place on the way home, and he got all his things back!

Frank was smiling in the last frame. Giving an animal a loving home is honoring the ones you’ve lost.
