Oddly enough – the Rubik’s cube was originally invented as a way to model a certain kind of topographical math and the professor who invented it used solving it as a problem in one of his classes. (Grad level stuff) So at least theoretically, it was substantially more valuable to spend hours moving colored squares around a cube than hunting for cheat codes for an on-line video game.
