I got that line from my mother too. I put the kibosh on it by saying I hoped I’d have a kid like me because I’d understand her and treat her with more patience and kindness than I was treated with.
When I would leave a door open, my mother would use the line “Do you live in a barn?”
I would reply: “Moooooooo”.
No need to, you’ll live it out sooner than you want!
