    NOw try to explain to Riley that the IRS collects the revenue upon which the government provides services: such as the roads he rides upon, the subsidies that created much of the infrastructure that he uses, grandpa’s pension (from his time with the Tuskegee Airmen), etc…..

    it’s not the fact that the government collects, it’s the fact that they do so in an inefficient manner that is appalling…

    The really appalling part is that the U.S. Tax Code is too complex to be thoroughly understood by any one person… If it were substantially simplified, it could be made more efficient.

    But still, try to explain to Riley that U.S. citizens pay less tax per capita than the citizenry of any other industrialized nation on the planet, and see what he does with that.
