I loved UPN. It gave people a chance when other networks didn’t.

Good Times. The Jeffersons. 227. A Different World. Yes, I know “he” produced it, but he wasn’t in it, after the pilot.

There are some decent black sitcoms, such as Blackish, the Fresh Prince, Kenan and Kel, Martin, and Everybody Hates Chris.

A biting sarcastic riff on the early Hollywood bias that black folk only exist to serve and amuse which later morphed into the ‘magical negro’ motif.

Sanford and Son was pretty good, at least the first few years. Good Times as well. Julia was good.

“The Cosby Show” wasn’t a sitcom?

Riley evidently forgot “Sanford and Son.”

Are you kidding? The Cosby Show, Family Matters, The Parent Hood, and there was some other one I used to watch. I can’t remember the name of it now, though. I liked all of these. There’s an episode that I want to access of The Parent Hood but I can’t seem to get just that episode without purchasing the whole series.

I remember those UPN shows of the late 90s. They weren’t much better than BET. All the good ones of the early 90s had either ended or morphed into poor shows under UPN pressure.
