Almost half a century ago we lived in a small northern town where there was a secret klan outpost that perpetrated mayhem on people who were new immigrants, during long nights in winter. People like that are one donut short of a dozen, that’s for sure.
Our parents moved as soon as they found jobs in a larger town.
