When I was laid off and decided to just retire, 6 yrs ago, I’d surmise that not even 10% of my degreed professional co-workers actually gave their employer the 40 hours of their effort and attention per week they were paid for; my guess was 30-35 hours, if that.
If employees don’t like their job and work only for a paycheck, their performance will be at a bare minimum. It’s Lucky to have hard working people with an exceptional desire to perform at an optimum level; taking pride in what they do and supporting colleagues to also do their best. Without a clear purpose, detrimental social media distractions, lack of commitment and little or no work ethic— marginal employees just don’t care. It’s pandemic.
