Hunters falling out of tree stands is the number one cause of death or injury.

I heard a story about that from one of my customers when I was still working. He’s still in a wheel chair…

And shooting themselves climbing to or from the stand is probably close behind falling in the stats.

(I live in a rural area and can almost see stands from my house)

If the deer were any smarter, they’d each take out one of the poles…

it can’t really be considered a sport until the deer can shoot back

Reminds me that the Fort Hood shooter is now paralyzed…. poetic justice.

What would happen if another hunter shot at the deer under the stand?

Lonewolf (funny this is the second comment of yours I’ve followed up today!), I think they’ve already hidden the ladder. I don’t see it here.

@whmill— Who ever said deer were dumb animals???

They are! What about the baby deer (fawn) that walked into the LION enclosure at the zoo recently? I always thought that prey could instinctively smell predators, but maybe the young one hadn’t learned how to avoid predators, yet. But they DO know to freeze, to be silent and still.

@whmlll The ladder the hunter used to get up into the stand.

Or am I missing your point?
