This is why Calvin is never or should never be around a chemistry set.

When was the last time you saw a chemistry set in a toy store?

I had a GIlbert Chemistry Set when I was a kid. In retrospect, I think it was good for me.

I temperorily lost both eyebrows to a Gilbert set. It included sulfur, salepeter and powdered charcoal. It wasn’t a big step.

I had a chem set as a kid. First chemicals I ran out of were the ones for “stink bombs”.

I had a chemistry set too. Saved my allowances for it. Never blew up anything, but made “invisible ink” and wrote letters to my cousin to drive her a little crazy.

I see chemistry sets for kids in some of my toy catalogs.
