@Colt9033 — in the 1800s, you’d find livery stables, dairy barns, pigpens and chicken coops as well as gardens in every city in the US, Canada, UK and Europe. No cars, no refrigerated trucks, no supermarkets. The person delivering your milk would have his/her own cows probably less than a mile from where you lived. You just crossed your fingers that they washed the buckets and bottles well and had no sick cows.
