In 1971 I got my draft number: #041 out of 365, so I expected to be drafted the following year to die in the jungles of Viet Nam. In 1972 Nixon ended the draft, saving my kiester. 2011, I’m still alive. I have overachieved by 40 years..
I got my draft notice, enlisted; when I SURVIVED Viet Nam, unlike many friends, I found myself spending decades “achieving” things for others, not for myself, saved a lot of lives, served a lot of people, hmm, guess that was “over-achieving” to a lot of folks in our culture today.
