Sounds like an improvement over the way things were done. It only took me about a half dozen tries to understand Microsoft’s “help” before I realised that it may look like English but it actually isn’t.
I’ve lived {lived?} through many names for Microsoft Windows operating system since 1990 and each time a new one debuts I cringe. The latest “Windows 10” others have said is an improvement, well, better than Vista I suppose. When the new #10 was free I considered learning LInux because I was afraid of the new Windows 10. I did not learn Linux, that’s another language! I am able to form simple sentences in the Windows tech speak but it has not been easy so I muddle through with help from more interpreters. I stayed with Windows 7.
Info Technology (IT) has been my profession for over 25 years and I can totally empathize with most of the population who does not live and breath technology.
When I was first studying this field in college, one of the difficult and frustrating things I’d experienced at times dealt with were fellow students and some instructors who were so into their specialties that they’d talk about what they were so passionate about but they might as well as be speaking a foreign language.
I still see the frustration and confusion to this day with regular people and frankly hate it. So I’ve long ago resolved, and attempt to practice on a regular basis, speaking to those outside the profession in human terms and concepts they can understand. Patience and empathy goes a long way – and people appreciate that they aren’t made to feel stupid. (I mean – does anyone ever really understand what the heck their doctor talks to them about their health?)
