It’s a beautiful love song sent to Frederica! The injury was worth it.

My mother-in-law had an old cabin on a lake, where a lot of nuisance woodpeckers would peck holes in the cedar shingle siding. She finally had the cabin torn down and a permanent house built and had it stuccoed, to avoid that problem. Stupid birds became stuccopeckers.

My daughter has woodpeckers the frequently try to peck holes in the steel chimney extension. It is quite loud in the house but doesn’t seem to damage the birds at all.

I can’t figure out how every time I get a new downspout it starts leaking.

We’ve got woodpeckers doing their thing in the vicinity, but they seem to prefer the trees, so far.

Freddie P*cker, Woody’s more urban relation. (I was warned about using a word on the banned list. Thus the out of character character. )

I live in a brick house. It took a while for me to figure out what was making a rhythmic tapping sound. It would start, stop, then start again. Over and over, and I’d hear it in different rooms at different times. One of the downy woodpeckers had figured out that insects hide behind the trim and eaves troughs. She hangs onto the brick, and drums away until lunch emerges.

I had a steel transceiver tower. I finally discovered the morse code I was hearing … was actually a male woodpecker trying to open it.

I love it when they mistake a cable dish for a tree. Almost musical. :)

The first place where I lived in my current city had a red bellied woodpecker who would announce his arrival every Spring by drilling on the gutters.
