Ah, them classy dames of the 1940’s were so smart and lovely.

The centre strip of Oct 22 would’ve never made it to the prints in these PC-CC (political correctness – cancel culture) days.

    There’s no place like home!

Poor Bozo. She must have thought he was the umbrella guy.

Thanks for all the great comments! I enjoy them as much as I do “Bozo.”

If the term “a born cartoonist” ever had any meaning, it had it in the person of Francis X. Reardon. It wouldn’t be too surprising to learn that he was born with a pen in one hand and a bottle of India ink in the other. “Foxo,” as he became known, was hired at the tender age of 16 as sports cartoonist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Within the next four years he had become editorial, sports, news, and humor cartoonist of that daily, and head of its art department. Along the way he created “Bozo,” the original pantomime comic strip, which appeared weekly in that paper from at least 1925 until it was internationally syndicated by the Chicago Sun-Times in 1945. “Bozo” appeared daily in newspapers throughout the world, including Stars and Stripes, the newspaper of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Bozo’s future depends on his followers’ support. Please sign up at GoComics with your email address and your own password. It is free, and you will then automatically have “Bozo” and other comics you choose placed each morning in your inbox. If you already subscribe, please click “follow” in the upper left of this page. A great many thanks!

    Son of Foxo Reardon
