I am up here in Tallahassee, helped Amy with her things earlier as she checked in with FSU housing (much easier than Fall move in day) and since tomorrow is MLK Day the wife and I decided to stay up here for a day but it is chilly out (for us 32F is real cold) and we have the heat in the motel cranked up which is why this is such a cool strip. I could use a cocoon on nights like this. Anyhow it is quiet and peaceful in the capital…. I was a bit worried as the National Guard was activated against any possible protests and being a Dad would get Amy off of campus if problems became apparent like we had in some spots of Tampa during the early BLM protests. Fingers crossed. My sis who works for the VA in Tampa has volunteered to housesit the pets, she brings her 2 cats along, they seem to get along well with our crew.
Anyhow, I have been up in the Boston area in January, man New England has some brutal winter weather: humid like Tampa but about 30-40 degrees colder and windy. So overall a good day, Amy made it back to campus though she misses her Annika and Vicky but will come home for a few weekends with her room mate Samantha. I got some Dreamland BBQ, the Bucs won tonight over New Orleans and it looks like no insurrection in Tallahassee tomorrow so I think I can live with a cold night, heck I might have to scrape ice off of the car windshield or run the defroster for about 15 minutes tomorrow morning, have not done that in ages…..
My fuzzy blanket is covered in cat drool from my female cat, Tigger! Who insists on giving me a good night head bam (she does not bop, she bams!) and kisses!
Yes, Lupin now is the time of transformation for the Woman. First she will anchor herself on the Red Couch with a warm fuzzy blanket which will serve as protection and warmth during the change to come. There she will stay, eating junk food and drinking tea while watching British murder mysteries. How she changes and what triggers it, we still don’t know. – Puck Cattenborough
Here in Utah we have a store called Minky Couture. They sell blankets made from luscious Minky material. Soooo cozy, velvety, and warm! I love to cuddle under mine. My pup loves to cuddle under as well. My cat loves to lie on top and knead on it!
who would leave a blanket cocoon when you got a good book, the TV, remote some good snacks and the house to your self the only reason if to go to the bathroom.
Well, I’m not wrapped in a blanket, but I am parked in front of my fireplace, relaxing with a cup of coffee on this, the first time that MLK Day has been a core holiday for my employer.
Found out yesterday in a text from my older brother who heard from our younger brother who heard from our former uncle that our bio-father is in the hospital with Covid. He’s 84 years old, on a ventilator and not doing well. I call him our bio-father because as a real father, he wasn’t. Honestly, how am I supposed to feel about someone dying a horrible death that beat me several times a week for years and tried to rape me when I was 18. (I fought him off and called for help.) The man is a monster but I don’t wish a lingering, painful death on anyone.
I would like the weather a little less cold, but every year I dread the long hot summer more. My main complaint these days is that I become very sleepy around 5 p.m. which is way too late for napping. Sometimes I can fight it off, but at least a couple of times a week I give in to the siren call of early evening slumber. Today even a large Mickey D’s UN-sweet tea didnt stop it.
Love the ‘Shelter Cats’ tab! We’ve got… well, several cats. All but two came from the streets at one point, and one of those two was a failed foster from the Humane Society. One has FIV. Two were rejected by the Humane Society because of upper respiratory problems. We’ve socialized several who’d never lived indoors.
We also feed feral cats, and work to get them TNR’d, if they can’t be socialized.

Of course, as I read this, I am wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with no real incentive to emerge.

They’re going to be disappointed when she comes out nearly exactly the same (but slightly dishevelled.)

The only good reasons to emerge from a blanket cocoon are to use the bathroom, grab another book, or feed the cats.

I’m wishing for a fuzzy blanket within which to undergo metamorphosis. Better yet I wish I could wrap the whole country in such a fuzzy blanket!

The woman has been spending a lot of time on he couch lately. I hope she’s OK. (Or is it just wishful thinking on behalf of a busy mom?)

We had a snowy, cold Sunday in St. Louis yesterday. I made a big pot of Broccoli Cheese soup for dinner. I love making soup in cold weather.
