Usually, cats are experts at solar flares since they flare themselves out in a solar pool for a bit of a nap…
I may not be posting for a few days. I’m having a tooth implant put in tomorrow so I’ll be staying in bed under the influence of some heavy pain medication. I’ll be back next week sometime.
It’s happening here, too. My TiVo remote control suddenly stopping working yesterday. Then my TV remote control stopped working minutes later. The TV remote just needed new batteries, but the TiVo remote is still dead.
Yeesh. Nothing like spending all day working on a problem, and then someone who has no idea what he’s doing wanders in, points out the problem like you haven’t noticed, and demands to know why you haven’t already fixed it.
Good point, Burt, and too right! The loudest meowers are nearly always the least knowledgeable about the thing they’re meowing about, especially when it comes to tech issues.
Hope I don’t jinx myself, but the last 2 days, when logging on to GC, I was not required to do the reCAPTCHA image selection thing.
Now in the past, sometimes I just had to check the box stating that I wasn’t a robot, and I got right in; while other times I HAD to select the images. There was no consistency.
That is a truism. It is always the one with the least experience (usually me) complaining about the technology. Then I call my kids to help me figure it out.
Along the lines of the weird synchronicity of the Sunday “glitch” and this arc, it just so happens there have been several unusually strong solar flares (CMEs) recently. We had some really amazing northern lights just last week.
Glitches all over, I think Georgia has tapped into something. But this one is actually funny. Everyone has probably had the experience of visiting a shopping site to browse and then leaving without buying only to get a soon following email inviting you back to buy right? But usually you are enticed with further examples of what you were looking at. OK, so yesterday I checked out a fall offering for new jackets but decided no. This morning I get the expected follow-up email but instead of more pictures of jackets, they sent pictures of towels and bathmats! Obviously an algorithmic hiccup. Can’t wait to see what else will happen.
Because you told the cat who yells at you to fix it constantly it was a solar flare burt. I admit I don’t know tech either but I don’t think they cause spooky glitches.

Which is quite an accomplishment! Burt is almost always chill!

I know EMF stands for elecrtomagnetic field, but I kinda hope Burt can tweak it into an EFM aka the Elvis Furmudgeon Meter.

I hope it’s not a CME. That causes all sorts of problems. Glitchy broadcasts would only be the beginning.

Hmm. I think this may have solved a few mysteries with my cats.

Burt is really frustrated by the glitch. Elvis asks a perfectly reasonable question, and Burt snaps at him.

I called it yesterday – I figured they might blame solar flares or sun spots, even tho I misspelled FLARES as flairs. :-(

… Oh, well, a-bless Burt’s soul, what’s wrong electronic’ly?
Cats glitchin’ like heck all wavy and fuzzy
Elvis is crabby and he’s wildly bugged
O, Cat above
He’s all shook up
Hmm, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah
… Oh, well, the feed looks shaky, and he starts to freak
Meows the loudest when he starts to speak
Why such a crank when he has such luck?
Cat above
He’s all shook up
Hmm, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah
… Well, please, don’t ask what’s upon Burt’s mind
He’d like to solar flare Elvis’ behind
When he’s near the cat that annoys him best
The laid-back cat starts to get stressed
Cat above
He’s all shook up
Hmm, ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah
… Hmm, ooh, yeah, yeah, he’s all shook up

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile
Elvis-Anum: What do you mean a Thing is about to happen?
Iggy: That’s what the Portentous Wind indicates.
Elvis: But what thing?
Puckmosis: That’s what we have to determine.
Elvis: And I suppose the Royal Procurers won’t tell.
Violet-Ifa: We might, but it’s not clear yet what the Thing might be.
Alice-Ata: Anyway, we always make sure we’re prepared for Any Thing.
Agnes-Ata: And we always remember that whatever happens, we’re in it together.
Ora Z: Can we shred the Thing?
Ta-Natash: Maybe. Once we know what the Thing is.
Ora Z: Should I get explosives?
Tash: Not just yet.
Bea: Right now we should just go about our business.
Enter Thomios
Thomios: Anyone want some pastries?
Bea: That’s it! Let’s all wear the donut!

Oh that’s an easy question to answer. Cats and politicians are in many ways cut from the same cloth. To wit:
“Why is it the politician that has the least amount of knowledge yells the loudest when something goes wrong?”
Nuff said!
