I think it was Groucho Marx who used it many years ago in reference to a movie star, and cold weather.
I seriously doubt Dan knew about or was referring to recent incidents…. he’s not prescient!
Newspaper strips are required to be submitted for publication at least six weeks in advance.
Some cartoonists, like Stephan Pastis, like to send them in several MONTHS ahead… though he and a few others can get special permission to insert a topical strip within about 10 days.
As for Guy and Rodd… I will admit their quirky humor made Brevity my favorite strip, and I miss it.
But they left. They don’t want to do it any more…. and THEY chose Dan.He does a good job with his jokes and puns… It’s not the same strip… but I still read it every day.Get over it.
