My mother told the story of her 3 brothers playing around in the bathroom with a matchbook, until one of them singed the hair on his butt. This was in the forties. Of course that wouldn’t happen these days.
Play on words: Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that seeks to make a person doubt themselves by convincingly disputing what they saw or heard.

I was severely chastised for using “ass”, in the same meaning as the cartoon. All those critics could see was the posterior, not the ass!

Next it will be a fish with a flashlight. It will be bass-lighting.

Ass-lighting? Never heard of it. Anyone?

Don’t get it? No, you’re not a donkey…
It left me in the dark for a bit, too.
I’ll try to shed some light without giving it away:
The pun might be more obvious if the woman looked more like Ingrid Bergman.
Then again… maybe you’re just going crazy.
LOL
Nachikethass… I won’t chastise you… but I will warn you.
A couple of years ago, someone I know was banned from this site for weeks.
A moderator told her it was for using that very word…. and she’d put in @ signs instead of S’s! (Of course, she did mean it as an expletive.)
Someone else was banned for another mild vulgarity even when substituting asterisks in the middle.
The moderators are a little looser now, I think… and rarely care about actual blasphemy…. but they’re not always predictable.
I just avoid most words I think might trigger them…. or provoke some flag-happy reader “just protecting the children.”
