So that’s Billy Joel but shouldn’t she be Christie Brinkley? (or at least Elle MacPherson?) I think Kate Upton is just an innocent bystander here and not really part of the joke.
For those who never heard of it, Upton Sinclair published The Jungle in 1906, an expose of the horrible working conditions in meatpacking plants. What appalled everyone was the details about the unsanitary way meat was packed. This led to laws reforming the industry to make it safe. https://www.britannica.com/topic/The-Jungle-novel-by-Sinclair
I’ve often come up with a comeback, joke or witty reply after I’ve left a party or hung up the phone with a friend, but you’ve obviously put a lot of time into this one, to draw it 37 years after the fact. I’m hoping you came across an old album or heard it on the radio again, and haven’t been ruminating about the perfect pun since 1983!
Does Sinclair’s book talk about the dangers of something past its shelf life? ;-)

Looks like he will just have to find a way to beat that meatpacking.

That would make him a Downton man. Is he witty enough for the Dowager Countess?

You all can explain it however you want, and I get the idea, but it’s still a very lame, dumb joke.

The Jungle was written by Upton Sinclair.

It’s a very clever joke, but alas, I think the reference is too dated.

Thx…I am not into ‘the classics’. And didn’t BJ date Christie Brinkley and not Kate Upton, who is married to Justin Verlander?
