I originally thought “Video Killed the Radio Star” was about how TV comics like Milton Berle had eclipsed the careers of radio comedians like Fred Allen in the late 1940s and early ’50s. Which I did think was a really strange thing for a pop-rock group to be singing about 30 years later.

“Video Killed The Radio Star” was a big hit in Europe, not so much on the American frontier.
