Yep. Wal-Mart DOES have a lot of gall. Let people enjoy their families. Happy Thanksgiving.

The problem is that the Christmas season began this year on November 8. Somethings are just wrong…

A turkey is eating a turkey. Go figure.

In that line up you have to be careful that you are not being eaten.

Ooooor, you could just stay home. Make staying open on Thanksgiving unprofitable for the stores. That’s what I’m doing.

Won’t be long before it’s called Black Thursday.

Several major stores will be closed on Thanksgiving this year. Home Depot, Dillard’s T.J. Maxx, Sam’s Club, to name a few. Bless their little hearts! It has never been worth it to me to wait hours in line to save money. It’s called “Black Friday” because stores make huge profits that day and it puts them in the black for the year due to the huge volume. I guess “Loss Leaders” is the appropriate term.

Just say “no.” China will still be here tomorrow with all its cheap toys.

You mean people have to drive to New Hampshire to save $$?

I am boycotting this obscene idea. Thanksgiving is for Family Not Shopping. I’m staying home and I urge everyone to do the same.If they don’t make any money off it they won’t do it again.

It’s a bit more symbiotic—or perhaps parasitic—than you describe. The stores offer these “bargains” (generally less of a bargain than you think, or not available to you) in order to get you to come out and shop on a day you’d otherwise sit in front of the TV pretending to watch football while the turkey kicks in. It’s called “conditioning,” it’s one of the most thoroughly proven areas of social engineering, and what you’re really saying is, “it works.”

Demand and supply . . and advertising. People want to save money? So don’t spend it. I worked retail for over twenty years and I won’t shop on holidays but there are them that will. If you aren’t part of the solution, you are part of the problem.. Hope every one has a good Thanksgiving and special thanks to all our troops that are not here to go shopping today.. . . . ☺

Wail-Mart, Satan’s Superstore, usually has one piece of junk for sale cheap. If you want better, you’ll pay the same as elsewhere. I got a gift card, bought a VCR, and it broke in a month. Got a cash refund and, for a few dollars more at Brandsmart, got a much better one not made in China.
