Is there a group that actually standardized that definition?Most people define a blue moon as the second in a month.

“Blue moon, you saw me standing alone….” What else could I say?

I thought it was the color of a moon from Uranus. Maybe Oberon or Puck.

I though it was a painting of the moon by Picasso during his blue period.

I like the song Blue Moon! I wish it did turn blue that would be neat.

And it’s not happening this year. There was one last year, the next one is 2018.

Since the comic doesn’t give the reason for calling such a moon blue, I looked it up. Still not entirely clear, but all my sources trace it to a 16th-century poem complaining that people would believe any cleric who claimed that the moon was blue (or made of green cheese, for that matter).

Why the third and not the fourth? Since there are normally three per season, I would think the fourth would be the oddball, not the normal third.

And how many episodes are there per season?

I remember reading a sci-fi story years ago about a blue moon affecting a planet’ inhabitants in unpredictable ways.I think it was in an Asimov story magazine.
