Old t-shirt for the army probably applies the Agent-X’s job as well: “Join the Army; travel to exotic, distant lands; meet exciting, unusual people and kill them.”
In the “real world”, Agent X would have a very complete history of his career in the import/export business, a Master’s degree in Economics and a passport stamped everywhere he was supposed to be. :)
What he means is that he doesn’t know, either. They just gave him the trenchcoat and sunglasses and told him to get out there. Actually, they mistook him for Lawrence Fishburne.

Does Agent X ever ask himself: “Is this why I joined the Men In Black?”

They relaxed that rule where I used to work. They don’t kill you anymore. They just lock your head in a safe at night.

I used to have a job like that, actually. It had to do with networks and bad guys and stuff. See? I told you without revealing a thing.
