Auntie Broomie is Nerwin’s shining example of Virtue and Wisdom–hence, scissors cutting a live wire!

Wouldn’t it be easier to unplug it?

Despite what CARK KENT and SISYPHOS have to say, I would brave the wraiths of Hell to do that, especially during Oprah orThe View. Goodbye cruel world!

Gweedo we do not comment on the you-know-what, especially in obnoxiously loud letters. You make their day when you do that, so don’t do that.

Broomie, now you gotta call an electrician or go buy a whole new TV. What if someone snipped your plug. Oh … well, never mind.

^Ooooh. Here’s an option. Now that the TV doesn’t work, don’t replace it! We’ve been without one for 16 years, and so far our kids are fairly normal and happy.

And yet, there are video games, dvds, and other ways the kids try to “age up.” My favorite is, “It doesn’t matter if that movie has bad language - we hear it in school all day long.”

I never saw a power or cable plug plugged into a stump before.

It’s actually pretty unlikely that you’ll get a shock from snipping an appliance’s power cord. The scissors blades will short the two wires together–you’re not in the conductive path. Then the fuse will blow.

People who teach children to be “safe around electricity” figure this is too complex a topic, so they tend to teach simply “stay away from anything electric.” Broomie, being 1500 years old and well acquainted with zaps, knows better.

    @ puddleglum1066 -

you’re probably right, but why take chances… there are some ways of doing it where you are part of the circuit… and the flash of vaporizing metal could be unpleasant, or worse…

@William Pursell, good answer: “You’ve never been in Broomie’s forest before.” That forest definitely does not follow the natural laws we are used to. Electricity seems to be available in all sorts of places, not just a tree stump.

Jascat, that’s not a ‘comment’, it’s a correction against future comments of the like, and in the manner in which it was done. Yeah, I really want to read spam and then stupid comments about the spammers every day here. MANY people have told y’all not to comment on the spammers. Get off my back!

Nice to know one parent cares. I know tons of little kids who watch South Park and Family Guy… with their parents! o_o

Aaron, these particular spammers aren’t going to bother coming back to check who said what. Their objective is to get some poor sucker to bite.

Since when did Broomie give a rat’s about what’s appropriate for kids and what isn’t? I remember when she went back to school – first grade – and had to stand in the corner for telling the kids a poem about someone from Nantucket.

Broomie must either be immortal… a high possibility. Or she is about to get a very hard shock.
