Wonder if that will work with me. Probably not because I’m not over the initial shock yet. I think I’m younger than Nerwin though, going on the premise that Broomie is 1500.
95% of your future depends on circumstances beyond your control: unalterable conditions, other people’s actions, and dumb luck (both good and bad). As Nietzsche said, all the Free Will in the world cannot make the sun rise one minute earlier or later than it’s going to rise. However, that still leaves 5% that you CAN control, and that’s what you need to focus on.
Life is a Radio Flyer wagon barrelling down a steep hill in a thick fog. There are no brakes, and the idea of “steering” is little more than a joke, but if your reflexes are good you can avoid hitting MOST of the trees…(It also helps to have a good friend along for the ride, even if he’s a smart-aleck tiger.)
I can’t disagree more. No one influence what I am doing and where I am doing it but me. Though it may have taken time to decide, the final decision was mine. There are those, I suppose, who will let outside forces interfere, and blame them for their circumstances rather than themselves.
If you really think you’re not in control of your life, I would liike you to meet people like me. I have C.P. or Cerebral Palsy I;ve done the climbing wall, went up El Morro National Monument in a wheelchair, the first ever to do so, among other things. I am also 54 and one actuary said i would be dead by fifty. So much for fate.
There’s what happens to you, and what you do with it. Don’t use the first as an excuse for the second. Religious people can tell you all about this (any religion).

Good grief! [Okay, wrong strip, but it still applies.] Is Nerwin showing signs of growing up?!

Yes, life is what you make of it. Until you get laid off and they take it all away.
