I’m sure there’s a lawyer out there somewhere who would take the case.

There is already some such litigation possible, as a number of incidents of this kind are on record. Here are just a few examples….

Yes, but the driver is always ultimately responsible for driving safely, regardless of what the machine says.

    Can you sue posthumously?

Must have the settings set to “fastest route”

Good luck with the lawsuit but the only options are “fastest” or “shortest” routes. There is no “stupidity override” option.

Hey Broomie, if you can sue for falling off a ladder, you can sue for that!

That’s why the city of Atlanta (and perhaps the state of Georgia) wants to be the first to get those self-driving automobiles.

I remember a TV show called “That’s Incredible” where the late actor/stuntman Dar Robinson did that over the Grand Canyon..He successfully parachuted out of the car as it started to tumble..

It would be helpful to municipalities to help recover costs of repairing bridges crushed by heavyweight vehicles. Yeah the driver is ultimately responsible but truckers are always in such a hurry that they ignore signs, hoping they can squeak through.
