Back in the sixties, out of more than 250 trainees in my Army basic training company all but one of us got orders for advanced training in some branch of combat arms except for one guy. He went to the army band.
Each of the US military services has a band (several bands, really) Most are garrisoned in or around the DC area. When we were kids, the military bands often put on free concerts on the barge at the Watergate Steps.
You’d need a regular trumpet, Nerwin. But yes, all the services have dance orchestras (more accurately, jazz bands) as well as concert bands, marching bands, other instrumental groups, as well as various vocal ensembles.
