I have never understood the obsession with privacy rights vs companies – where one engages a transaction, or not, of free will – yet blithely ignores flagrant abuses by the government, which are unavoidable under penalty of incarceration. I think almost all government regulation, especially of the financial industry, is dumb and wasteful. The abuses by bureaucrats are the abuses to fear, as they are legally unavoidable by normal people.
